J. S. Bach live in concert: virtual, virtuoso, vigilant

Bachfest artistic director Michael Maul (and probably others, too) had a dream: Johann Sebastian Bach steps out of the frame of the famous Haussmann portrait of 1748. At last, after 277 years, the master sits down at the harpsichord and gives a short recital and at the same time insights into his life, works, character, quirks and longings. Believe it or not, that dream will come true! Bach has announced that he will be attending the 2025 Bachfest – with the kind assistance of the innovative augmented reality experts from OVRLAB.
Put on your AR glasses in the historic Summer Hall of the Bach Archive, where Bach once performed in private for the Bose family. Immerse yourself in a half-way world between reality, verified facts and quotations and as much imagination as is necessary to create a thrilling performance by this god of musicians.
Which works will Bach be playing? Does he play fast or slowly, with numerous embellishments or in simple fashion? What does he have to say? Does he speak with a Saxon or Thuringian accent? Does he come over as likeable, or arrogant and stand-offish? And will we find out what is hidden beneath Bach’s wig?
Suspense, rousing virtuosity, of course as much authenticity as possible, but also the odd surprise – all this is guaranteed in what is probably the most longed-for comeback in music history!
Twenty-five tickets are available per performance (German/English, duration 40 minutes approx.). Book early to make sure you get one of the coveted seats!
